GE
Two editions. One question: do you need central control?
Automation prints when your systems say so. Enterprise adds centralized management, revision control, audit trails and web printing across sites. Both include everything in Professional.
Automation
Printing triggered by your systems
- Everything in Professional
- Integrations through REST APIs, File Drop or no-code builders
- 70+ trigger actions to print from your ERP, WMS or MES
- On-demand print forms and reprinting of lost or damaged labels
- Licensed per printer; setup and integration scoping included
Enterprise
Central control across sites
- Everything in Automation
- Centralized label and document management with revision control
- Enterprise security, permissions and complete audit trails
- Web printing and 99.99% high availability
- Licensed per printer; multi-site rollout planned with you
One person printing from files, spreadsheets or a database? That is BarTender Professional, from $1,195, sold online. Compare all three editions.
Your system creates the record. BarTender prints the label.
BarTender Automation watches for a trigger, merges the data and sends the job to the right printer. No operator, no copy-paste, no wrong label.
- Triggers: a file dropped in a folder, a REST call, a database change or a print request from your ERP, WMS or MES
- Print recovery: lost or damaged labels are reprinted from the log, not re-keyed
- Scales from a few printers to hundreds, across sites, licensed per printer
- Enterprise adds one place to manage templates, approve changes and audit every print
Your ERP, WMS or MES, a shared folder or a database table.
A File Drop, REST call or database change maps the data to the right label template.
Any site, any printer, with print logs you can audit.
Specialists scope the integration, install and test it on your printers.
Priced per printer, as a subscription or a perpetual license.
Automation and Enterprise are licensed by the printers BarTender prints to, not by users. Your quote shows both ways to buy; you pick.
Licensed per printer
Count the printers BarTender will drive, across all sites. Add printer licenses later as you grow; nothing is reinstalled.
Subscription or perpetual
A subscription runs for its term with maintenance included. A perpetual license is a one-time purchase with the first year of Standard Maintenance & Support; renewing keeps upgrades active.
Set up with you
Installation, integration scoping, your first templates, printer configuration and a free one-hour onboarding session ($450 value). The license is activated the same business day; the integration is built with you on a scheduled call.
Questions buyers ask before they order Automation.
What is the difference between Professional and Automation?
Professional prints when a person clicks print, from files, spreadsheets, databases and data-entry forms. Automation prints when another system says so: a file dropped in a folder, a REST call, a database change or a request from your ERP, WMS or MES. If nobody will click print, you need Automation.
Which systems can trigger printing?
Anything that can drop a file, call a REST API or change a database record, which covers most ERP, WMS and MES platforms, and custom software through the .NET SDK. Tell us what creates the order and the quote includes the integration scoping.
When do I need Enterprise instead of Automation?
When several sites or teams share templates and you need one place to manage them, approve changes, keep revision history and an audit trail, or print from a browser. Regulated environments usually land on Enterprise.
Subscription or perpetual license?
Both are available and the quote shows both. A subscription includes maintenance for its term. A perpetual license is paid once and includes the first year of Standard Maintenance & Support; renewing maintenance after that is optional and keeps upgrades active.
How long does it take to go live?
The license is activated the same business day. The integration is scoped on a call, then built and tested on your printers with you. A File Drop integration is usually the fastest route; API and database triggers depend on the work on your side. You get a timeline with the quote.
Is there a cloud option?
Yes. BarTender Cloud runs in the browser with no server to maintain and comes in Essentials, Automation and Enterprise plans. Say so in the form and we quote cloud and on-premises side by side.
Tell us what creates your orders. We'll quote the printers.
A BarTender specialist replies the same business day with Automation or Enterprise pricing for your printer count, or books a 20-minute live demo on your own labels.
